Frequently asked questions

Is GobiPlay free?

Yes. Every game on GobiPlay is free to play in your browser. There is nothing to download or install and no account to create. A few optional purchases exist, and they are all cosmetic: they change how your horse, bones or board look, never your chances of winning.

Which devices can I play on?

Any recent phone, tablet or computer with a web browser: Android phones, iPhones and iPads, Windows, Mac and Linux computers and Chromebooks. The games adapt to portrait and landscape screens. You can also add GobiPlay to your home screen so it opens full screen like an app.

Which languages do the games support?

English and Mongolian. The games pick a language from your device and you can switch at any time.

How do I play Shagai Race with friends online?

1. Open Shagai Race, tap Online, type your name and tap Create room.
2. Send the 4-letter room code, or the link, to your friends.
3. Your friends open the game, tap Online, enter the code and join.
4. When everyone is in, the host taps Start race.

Up to six riders can race in one room, each on their own phone, wherever they are in the world. The host can also add computer riders. You can race again in the same room as many times as you like.

How long does a room stay open?

A room lasts up to 12 hours. If everyone leaves, it waits 30 minutes for someone to come back with the same code. After that, simply create a new room.

What if my connection drops during a race?

Your seat is kept. Open the game link again and you go straight back into the race. If you are away for a long time, a computer rider moves for you so the others are not kept waiting.

What is Quick race?

Quick race puts you in a race with other players right away, without a code. If not enough people are looking for a race at that moment, computer riders fill the empty seats.

What are coins for?

You earn coins by finishing races and can spend them in the shop on horse coats, dyed bones and new boards. Coins cannot be exchanged for money and do not change the game's odds.

Is there any betting?

No. GobiPlay games have no betting of any kind.

What are the shagai sides and the titles?

Each shagai (sheep ankle bone) lands on one of four sides: horse, camel, sheep or goat. Read What is shagai? for the tradition, the Shagai Race guide for the rules, and Naadam horse racing explained for the titles Tümnii ekh, Airgiin tav and Bayan khodood.

How do I play Nomad Guardians?

Draw a path from your herd to the corral and protect the animals from wolves, snow leopards, bears, eagles and foxes. The Nomad Guardians guide explains everything.

Do you collect my personal data?

We don't ask for your email or phone number, and there is no login. For online races you choose any display name you like. The games keep your progress on your own device. Our privacy policy explains the details, including how ads and payments work.

How can I contact you or report a bug?

Write to us on Telegram at @gobiplay26 or by email at [email protected]. Please include your device and a screenshot if something looks wrong. GobiPlay never asks for passwords, card numbers or SMS codes.
